Colorado added an interesting player to the mix today in goaltender Craig Anderson, the position has been hard to fill since the retirement of Patrick Roy with the team having difficulty finding a reliable player to fill the crease. The most notable bust to date being Jose Theodore, who at the time of the trade was hoped to be the best hope for the franchise and reminiscent of the deal which brought Roy from Montreal to Colorado. Anderson, who spent the last 3 years in Florida sports a record of 36-43-13, however last season he was 15-7-5 with a 2.71 goals-against average and three shutouts. Here is hoping his numbers continue to improve over the upcoming season as the Avalanche recently re-signed fellow net minder Peter Budaj. The upside to this scenario is that the total salary cap hit for the goalie tandem is $2.05 million for the season.
Anderson finished last season with a .924 save percentage and a 2.71 goals against average, hopefully he can find a good footing in the Colorado organization and work well with the defense to improve those numbers and lead the Avalanche back into the playoffs.
